When Completing a Sprinkler Repair for a broken Sprinkler Pipe,  We always use primer along with the proper hot glue. This ensures that the PVC pipe actually bonds correctly and will be stronger than the surrounding Pipe.  Many times a sprinkler system leaks because primer was not used when the sprinkler system was installed.  We come across this time and time again.  Primer not being used causing a leak in a sprinkler system.

Edmond Sprinkler Repair

Recently we had a customer in Norman who had some trouble with a sprinkler head that was leaking at the base.  There was mulch all around the sprinkler head and when the system ran it blew mulch all over the sidewalk.  This is a typical Sprinkler Repair and occurs quite often.  It took us about 15 minutes to fix.  We also moved several Sprinkler Heads that weren’t in the best places.  Moving sprinkler heads is a common practice for Oklahoma Drainage and Sprinkler Repair.

These two types of Sprinkler Heads should not be in the same Sprinkler Zone Together.  The reason is that they water at different rates.  The Pop-Up Sprinkler Head is a Continuous Spray Head.  It does not move or rotate.  It covers a small area and puts a lot of water down fast.  The Rotor Sprinkler Heads cover a much larger area and spray back and forth from left to right.  They take a greater amount of time to completely water their designed area.  If Pop-Ups and Rotor Sprinkler Heads are put in the same zone together and run at the same time, by the time the Rotor Sprinkler Heads are finished,  the area covered by the Pop-Up Sprinkler Heads will be Flooded.  This can kill whatever the Pop-Up Sprinkler Head is intended to water.

Many times ” Fly – By – Night Sprinkler Companies”  or, ” DIY Home owners who don’t know any better,” Put Rotor Sprinkler Heads and Pop-Up Sprinkler Heads in the same zone.

IT IS A BIG MISTAKE!

Oklahoma Drainage and Sprinkler Repair is expanding its service to include Altus and Lawton and all surrounding Western Oklahoma.  We still also service all of Central Oklahoma Including Oklahoma City, Norman, and Edmond.

Recently we fixed a sprinkler system that was poorly installed.

The Sprinkler System Company that installed it didn’t know what they were doing.  There was no Master Valve installed in the Sprinkler System.  As a result, The Sprinkler Pipe between the water meter and the Sprinkler Valves stayed pressurized all the time.  This is bad during a cold snap in Oklahoma.  If a Master Valve and In-Line Pipe Drains had been installed originally, there would be no broken pipes when it got too cold.    The Sprinkler Pipes would drain automatically.

Sprinkler Valve installation in EdmondWhen connecting to the Well-Pump, we installed a Back-Flow Valve and a Master Valve.  The Back-Flow valve ensures that water can only flow from the Well to the Sprinkler System.  It can’t flow from the Sprinkler System to the well.  This ensures that the Well Water will stay safe and pure.

Next, we installed a Master Valve.   A Master Valve is always a “Must” for any Sprinkler System.  A Master Valve allows a Sprinkler System to:  1.  Drain Automatically Under Ground.  2.  Makes sure there are no pressurized Sprinkler Pipes EXCEPT WHEN THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS RUNNING.  3.  Provides a “Fail-Safe” for the customer if something goes wrong with the Sprinkler System.  If you have water shooting up in the air or have a leak of any kind all you do is turn the Sprinkler Controller to, “OFF”, and it will stop.    A Master Valve ensures that you will not have water running down the hill while you are waiting for service.  Also, THE WATER GOING TO YOUR HOUSE WILL NOT BE AFFECTED IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR SPRINKLER SYSTEM.  EVERYTHING INSIDE YOUR HOME WILL WORK PERFECTLY.  ( WASHER, DISHWASHER SINK, etc.)

I have amassed a great deal of experience  Repairing Sprinkler Systems, and designing and installing Drainage SystemsIn the past 25 years, I have made mistakes, but I have learned from them.  As a result I get calls, from time to time,  from other Sprinkler and Drainage companies that have run into a problem that they can’t handle.  I am always glad to help.

I usually don’t take money up front for, Sprinkler Repair, or Drain Installation.  I prefer that the customer pay me when the job is complete and they are happy with the work.  In a few cases on very large jobs I request a draw or outlay for parts.  The parts are delivered from my supplier to the address where the job is being done and equal the amount of the draw.  The parts stay on the premises until they are installed.
